First Generation ...

Samuel Etherton, was born in approx. 1805 in the St.Luke area of London. In 1836 he married Mary Rogers at St.Matthews church, Bethnal Green. Samuel was a shoemaker by trade. Mary died in 1852 whilst giving birth to their fifth child, Daniel John. The baby also died shortly after. Samuel died in 1860 from phthisis. At the time of his death he was living in Bethnal Green Workhouse.

Second Generation...

Samuel and Mary had 5 children in total, namely:

  • Samuel James, born 1837, St.Luke
  • Ann, born 1838, City of London Lying-In Hospital, St.Luke
  • George, born 1840, Bethnal Green
  • Charlotte, born 1843, Bethnal Green
